I enjoyed reading this A LOT!

Imposter syndrome has never been more visually interesting! I so related to this piece. Except in my case, it was all these ecstatic people breathlessly using marketing buzzwords. (Never as fun as Flintstones furniture.) I love the "trends" you shared and the few gems you salvaged from the weirdness.

What are these furniture designers actually seeing in their heads? Beauty? design expertise? charm?

So much pretension and poor choices of materials and structure. You were very brave!

A lot of them are quite thoughtful it’s just hard when things cost so much, which honestly doesn’t really end up in the pocket of the designer

I am so happy to hear that im not the only one who feels this way. A trade show for chairs never intended to be sat in, clicky by design.

Its also amazing to me how many "designers" at these fairs are drowing in debt from a respected new england design school, all to maybe sell a chair.

Yes, I did speak with a designer who had a piece as part of a collective and she said the costs to present were very prohibitive and it's such a long timeline for knowing if there's any ROI

Great writing, as usual! Witty and smart. Felt like I was there with you.

Ooh shame youre not naming anything in the "FURNITURE FOR PEOPLE WITH NO BODIES" because I love the chair(torture device) center right. I'd love to see more from the artist even if I agree with you that I'd never want to own it

I’ll find it for ya

This was super funny! Especially the French part and the bit of chairs for people with no bodies. 😂
