Good Schmutz aka Things I Found and Love, vol. 6
T Rex-meets-Torah style, Disneyland trees, and 19 other great design things.
Happy almost-Rosh Hashanah to you all. Time for another round of Good Schmutz, my monthly-ish roundup of Schmatta-worthy design things. If you want to catch up on past Good Schmutzes, see volume 5 and volume 4. In today’s edition:
Denim-inspired dinnerware
The next “it” color combo
Playful new kids’ beds
The French grocery store collabs we need to move to Paris for
And more!
#1: Now might be a good time to show East Fork — the Asheville, NC-based pottery brand — some love. According to an update on their site, operations are currently down due to Helene, so nothing is shipping right now. But let’s all bookmark something to buy for the holidays once they’re back up and running. (Below is the fall/winter collection and the color combo is sick...#15 also has this combo.)
#2: Nestig, which is known for making some extremely design-forward nursery furniture (the expandable crib is everywhere) has finally launched a collection for bigger kids. It’s fun and dreamy — think beds shaped like houses, cars, or camper vans, as well as Montessori-style furniture. #partner
#3: For my French friends, Monoprix has some very cool home collabs coming in December. Rounded furniture pieces from Fleur Delesalle, lighting by super-’70s designer Jean-Pierre Garrault, and wood furniture by Batiik Studio.
#4: Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan’s Palm Beach home is up on World of Interiors and is described as a “T. Rex- meets-the-Torah aesthetic” (love):
#5: London artist Leo Costelloe going in on BBE (big bow energy):
#6: The trees in Disneyland? There’s a story there:
#7: A sexy bedroom corner by Night Palm:
#8: This Palm Beach-based seashell queen is making the most grotto girly lamps I’ve ever seen:
#9: Have you heard of SLOYDLAB, a “neo-ornamental” Swedish furniture brand?
#10: Beata Heuman, you silly genius — of course you can go ahead and make a room of inlaid wood worthy of display in The Met:
#11: Jowls or jates?
#12: New favorite ceramicist, Minneapolis-based Ginny Sims:
#13: Just great by Finch Studio:
#14: The Block Shop ladies are doing hardware for Petra!:
#15: Really vibing on burgundy + light blue as a cool-girl color combo these days:
#16: Cake has, once again, taken it TOO FAR:
#17: A really great bathroom:
#18: Another really great bathroom:
#19: It’s my first time hearing of a Maryland-based furniture company — Crump and Kwash does really interesting custom pieces with modernist and art deco influences:
#20: What $90,000/month in rent gets you in L.A….I don’t understand. I will never understand.
#21: Clare V x Schoolhouse! Saw it in person — super festive, great quality. I’ve been waiting an eternity for Clare to do homegoods and this line very much delivers. But let’s hope this isn’t the end — I’d love to see Clare add furniture and decor permanently to her offerings.

90000$ for one month? Is that house self-cleaning and magically cooks and lays out my clothes for the next day? That's about ~81000€ at the moment, which is more than an lot of people I know make in a year. My brain just can't handle this.
