Grotto Girl Giveaway + Good Schmutz
Win a cute necklace/peruse things I found and love.
Today is a very special day because it is Schmatta’s very first giveaway! Allow me to introduce you to SJO Jewelry, a line made with vintage beads; it’s pure fun. Funny story: I started noticing SJO liking every single Schmatta post. I checked out her profile and was like, whoa! Cute stuff, do you want to do a giveaway? Then turns out, she’s my next door neighbor’s SISTER. Small world. I thought it especially appropriate because SJO has a very Grotto Girly vibe: lots of pearls, shells, etc. So! One lucky reader will have a chance to win this gorg necklace (retail $165) and live out their true Grotto Girl Summer.

Last thing: Good Schmutz (a roundup of my favorite new design things) is ordinarily for paying subs. It’s free today but if you like what you see, consider giving me $7/month to supply you with the best decor stuff.
Good Schmutz!
#1: Le Fleur (Tyler the Creator’s fashion project) did a collection for Parachute. The collection goes bolder in color than Parachute’s usual offerings, but it really isn’t as over the top as you’d think it might be.
#2: My favorite account for real estate dreaming: @ahouseupstate with listings from Upstate New York realtor Annabel Taylor.
#3: Eric Wareheim’s wine co., Las Jaras, collaborated with Dusen Dusen for a very summer collection which includes a sampling of canned wine and a beachy tote.
#4: Asics x HAY:
#5: Casa Shop is so good. I’ve never bought anything from them but, like, heavy want on all things. But ESPECIALLY this flatware set. Sadly, it is sold out, but there’s a serving set and some napkin rings that are giving the same wavy energy.
#6: House of RoRo kids’ furniture. The brand takes inspiration from the quality kids’ furniture that was produced by the Eameses and Enzo Mari, and features wood tables and chairs that, IMO, do look like they could withstand the test of time.
#7: Like I’ve said before, it takes a lot to convince me a DIY is worth doing. And ones that are worth doing leave little margin for janky-ness and cost significantly less than what you can buy. So, here’s a pretty good patio DIY:
#8: Farrow & Ball has a new wallpaper collection. I’m not completely in love with it, but the story — involving a dilapidated chateau in France — is quite charming.
#9: Luvhaus ceramics is not new to me, but it was forgotten until I came across some pieces in Broome St. General Store (a place that is overpriced, over-hyped, yet causes me to buy random things). Heavy, quality pieces in fun colors.
#10: Tekla collabed with Artek to release a collection of sheets based on Aino Aalto’s Kirsikankukka pattern, which was created in the 1930s.
#11: L.A.-based ceramics studio LGS has released a new collection that deviates from their earthy, volcanic creations — this lighting line is called Nocturnus and it is so perfectly goth that Lydia Deetz would surely approve.
#12: I came across the soon-to-be-launched Don Tanani, a contemporary Egyptian furniture brand.
#13: Just an amazing 1950s Fausto Melotti mirror. Sadly sold.
#14: Daniel Arsham designed a cabin residence for Kohler.
That’s all! Don’t forget to like/comment to enter our SLO Jewelry giveaway!
