I'm sure you've thought of/researched everything, so I might just be talking out loud here! The French talent visa seems like it's within your reach. Can someone at AD put you in touch with someone at AD France? Or can you prove that your current design knowledge is useful for giving a French audience an American/international perspective? You can bring your family over with this kind of visa. https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/france-visas/international-talents-and-economic-attractiveness
Or! Education visas are the "easiest" for Americans to get. I've heard of people taking classes full-time at a language school and it being enough to pass. You wouldn't have to complete an entire Master's.
Thanks Kelsey! I have looked into the talent visa, but it really seems like it’s more for academics…unless I could prove this one “You are able to prove your national or international reputation”
Well, I subscribed and am here entirely for design/color/decor news. I am an academic, not in your field, and basically a government employee my entire adult life so I have moved according to where the job was, not necessarily where I would really want to live (getting close to retirement, so hoping for a Vermont- Costa Rica plan maybe?). So I can't offer any advice for job prospects.
That said- I've also had to make many challenging decisions to do what was best for my (now-adult) children. As Churchill said: If you're going through hell, keep going. And if you don't feel good about where your daughter is going to school, that's the sign to keep going, right there in neon lights.
You and your husband are young, and smart, and capable. You'll land in a good spot, you'll see.
If nothing else, please do not feel bad about too much TV. Kids are built to last. I have two amazing kids in good colleges who contribute to the world and are kind humans. They exceeded their "screen time" by A LOT. A LOT of the time. And now I'm gonna upgrade to Founding.
I hate that you've had a terrible 2025.

But honestly, I’d still need a more financially stable position to make the move

Thank you for sharing…I’m so sorry for the rotten year you’ve all had. ….and, oc, YES to Paris. Even when it doesn’t feel like, ANYTHING is possible❤️

I love my subscribers who aren't in the design field! Love hearing your story :)
