22 finds including a rather gothic dining table, mint rooms, TV tapestries, and more!
Hello, cuties!
It’s time once again for Good Schmutz…my roundup of design-y things that send me into daydream mode.
First, some new shop discoveries, which have all been added to my ultimate shopping guide:
Porta - fun home accessories
Il Buco Vita - sturdy tableware
Studio Kallang - handmade furniture
Cherche - vintage furniture and accessories
Goodland - hot tubs, garden hoses
And away. we. go!
#1: Beni Rugs can do no wrong these days. The company’s new Orpheu collection, designed by Lisbon-based Garcé & Dimofski, is inspired by Fauvist art. I neeeeeed the below runner (Cobalt).
#2: Lost Art Press, a tiny, Kentucky-based publisher of woodworking books, has put out an edition of a 1916 book called Principles of Design. It breaks down furniture design in a way that is fascinating — and logical.
#3: &Tradition collaborated with Verner Panton’s family to put out new colorways of the Flowerpot pendant — pick from groovy waves or solid vermillion, cobalt, or hot pink.
#4: Just a really, really great kids’ room. I would never, in a million years, think to paint a room in mint chocolate chip.
#5: Speaking of great kids’ rooms, this space by Studio Ashby (a top 10 design firm in Schmatta’s book, plus they make a perfect rug) is my new inspiration for my daughter’s room. She’ll be moving into a “big girl bed” soon…
