For the most part, Amazon, as a furniture and decor marketplace, is a wasteland of faux leather club chairs with Cheesecake Factory waiting area vibes, plastic storage dressers for people who have given up, anonymous black sofas, and patio sets for retirement homes. I have also learned that Amazon “brand names” are all preposterous: Furniwell, Furologee, Sweetcrispy, Tribesigns, Gizoon.
Yet. Yet. There is some stuff that isn’t terrible. With my definition of “not terrible” being either a) something I’d be pretty stoked about if I was in my twenties and unable to spend a lot on decor, or b) a non-essential piece I’d actually buy with no regrets but with no hope for its longevity.
I’ve broken up this shopping guide into four categories: lighting, kitchen/dining, decor, and furniture.

Schmatta's Renovation Shopping Guide
Welcome to Schmatta’s passion project. We (I) are creating highly thorough and vetted lists for all things home shopping. All of these lists are paywalled: They will be constantly edited/added to, and eventually they will be compiled into a more dynamic/interactive page that will allow you to search according to multiple tags/dimensions. My goal is to make Schmatta’s sources completely bookmarkable, so you have “cool” (or whatever) sources for all of your interior needs — right at your fingertips.
Okay I clicked on five of these straight away - great picks!!
