People who consume media (aka all of humanity) are suckers for trends. The idea of a trend stimulates dopamine production because it signals positive change: I can have a new me by tomorrow! (Even if that’s an empty capitalist promise, which it usually is.) This process translates better to fashion because of its fast-paced nature. But when it comes to decor, I have a hard time saying something is a “trend” (here is my more detailed rant) because interiors move slower and a few photos of travertine countertops doesn’t mean that thousands of people suddenly decided to switch to travertine countertops.

But, as a design editor/writer/lady/person, I do notice things and try to recognize patterns. So here are some (6) things I’ve noticed lately and liked.

I’d love to know your thoughts (good/bad/any) on decor trends — feel free to sound off in the comments!

Blue Tile

The last time blue tile was a go-to was probably around 2015ish. I lot of people were trying to emulate the floors of Intelligentsia (very IG-y at the time) and I also saw WAY too many blue bathrooms that used this “mid-century” starburst tile design. I like what I’m seeing now:

The “Lazy” Curtain

I don’t have a lot of proof to back this up, but I do think there is a lot of fatigue around window treatments — they’re expensive, and a lot of the time, they suckkkk. (If Everhem is reading, I’m very curious. Let’s talk.) Anyhow, the “lazy curtain”: It’s basically just pinning up a piece of delicate fabric. I think this all kind of started with the cafe curtain craze, which is very DIY-able and (in many cases) less pricey than curtaining a whole window. My Pinterest is filled with examples of barely-hung-up curtains and although I can’t find a date for a lot of them…IDK, I just feel this is coming.
